The center was founded and dedicated to the deceased by the late Hajj Mohammad Mehdi Ebrahimi Dari, the private charity, in 1958 and renamed later to Shahid Hashemi Nejad in September 1985.

Since then, the center has been serving as the national center for treating kidney diseases affiliated to the University of Medical Sciences in Iran. The hospital is the first and the largest hemodialysis and kidney transplantation center in the country. It has been continuous for more than 30 years. It is engaged in the training of urologists and nephrologists.

Shahid Hashemi Nejad Hospital has been considered as the educational and medical center since 2002, with a change in its management system to the path of excellence, which has caused a comprehensive change.

The center is currently using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) system and the interaction of medical and engineering groups, charity associations and advisers to transform enormously into the hub of health in the country to take full advantage of the capacity to provide better services to patients which are regarded as the flag older of the quality revolution in the hospitals of the country has supported other hospitals in this way towards the quality systems and participation in the Excellence Award.
